While researching material for a pictorial history of Spring Grove, Minnesota, I came across these “sketches” in a dusty scrapbook owned by town historian Georgia Rosendahl. The articles immediately fired my imagination. From the late 1950s and into the early 1970s, Percival Narveson published his work in the Winona Daily as well as in the Spring Grove Herald. The purpose of this collection is to revive the work of one of Spring Grove’s most gifted storytellers. Originally published in book form in 2001, The Sketches are now offered exclusively online. Those interested in obtaining a print version are asked to contact the publisher for more information. Thank you and enjoy.
